I had a different brand lightbulb with app included - no remote control. This meant that every time I wanted to change the color I had to look for my phone, enter my passcode, find the app, open the app, find the buttons I wanted to press, etc. It took a while and it was annoying. . Then the app stopped working and there was no support and she was put through Revine's return window. I vowed to only get remote controlled flashlights from now on. The E12 lanterns go great with our long Ikea paper lantern we had. I just bought E26 which are standard American lightbulbs which I put in my three bulb lightbulb and overhead paper lantern. I was happy that I can control not only the E26 bulbs with the supplied remote (I would say remotes, they send you 2 identical remotes) but also the E12 in the Ikea light fixture. So now I have 3 sets of lights that I can control from a remote control and adjust to each other. I can even turn the light on and off at will while sitting on my bed, and do it quickly — without the lag of waiting for my phone to open or apps to open — because it's just a quick remote control. I felt like I was in fantasy, pointing at the lights and changing their colors at the touch of a button. I want them to be colored in intense orange colors. Yes, lights can go red and golden yellow (along with green, blue, and other colors), but not deep orange, which is one of my favorite colors for lights. In fact, some of the bulbs that were replaced were just orange. Maybe I can play more intensely, but that's a bit of a shame, but it's not enough to stop me from really loving her. And YES, white is definitely bright enough for reading. The only reason I didn't buy Philips hue bulbs many years ago is because my three bulb bulb has a maximum output of 40W each and the Philips color tint exceeds that output. (They are amazing at 40W and not only are they a lot cheaper than Philips, they are also compatible with my lamp.) So I put in colored bulbs and couldn't use this reading lamp - I could only use it as a cool nighttime accent. Lamp BC had orange and green lights. Now with these bulbs I can make this bulb white whenever I want and cool/colored whenever I want - and yes I can make all 3 lamp heads different colors if I want. So I'm a big fan of it and VERY happy with the price.
