This is a great balaclava. I used it cross country skiing in New Hampshire last winter and it worked great. I don't normally ski below 20F and at those temperatures it offers enough protection so you don't breathe in cold air which is especially helpful while you're still warming up. At the same time, because the material is so thin you hardly feel it, it raises the temperature of the inhaled air to a level that is comfortable. This worked perfectly for what I needed it for. As an added benefit, it also protects your neck. If you get warmer, you can easily move it up or down as needed to regulate the temperature.
