Adopts protection and doesn't compromise Hi-Fi sound quality

I originally wanted to buy the 4-way isobar version but decided to up the ante a bit. My application was the power supply and protection of a hi-fi stereo system, consisting of a tube amplifier, phono stage, SACD/BluRay turntable and record player, and a few other components. It's not a power conditioner and I didn't expect it to improve sound quality; it's really not meant for that. However, it does have a potentially audible benefit since all outputs are isolated - it's the "Iso" "Isobar" part. I really can't say whether this has improved the sound of my system; I wasn't listening carefully. But I can say with confidence that it didn't harm the sound at all. My very SUBJECTIVE impression is that this might have helped, but as I said, I haven't tested in a way that would convince me, let alone anyone else. As for its defensive capability, to the best of my knowledge, there haven't been any power events that could cause it to shut down. A small but important feature is that the LEDs will notify you of house wiring problems such as bad or missing grounding, open neutral, etc. I was a little suspicious of the jack I use to connect the isobar. but he says the status is gone so that's good to know.

Pros
  • Comfortable
Cons
  • Big and bulky
