Allows you to hide the mess in the background by blurring at quite decent distances to the object. I am completely discouraged by the fact that on the 5.6 hole the lens is really darker than the initial whales, almost half a stop. If they just need to shoot without blurring, then on normal apertures you have to greatly lengthen the shutter speed, on a cloudy day on a 5.6 hole you have to set shutter speeds to 1/30 in the same place where 1/80 is enough for 35 2.0.
