It really works! There are so many brands out there that it was difficult to choose. Random purchase based on reviews and features. After that, my HVAC contractor commented that UEI was a very good brand and his test unit was UEI. (He tried it and liked it.) There was a gas leak. The gas supplier went 3 times and couldn't find anyone. I've tried blowing bubbles but to no avail. I ordered this device out of desperation. The leak was found quickly. I don't understand why people are complaining about taking it outside to set the device's baseline. Why care. It works. There is no such thing as a simple "click-the-button" program. Everything in life requires effort. This device did what the gas company's $500 device could not. It squeaks loudly, but when you're close to the appliances, like the stove, you really want to hear what's happening. Well made and appears to be durable. The light on the sensor is great for seeing in darker areas between bars and behind pipes. I never thought I would ever have one, but I think I bought the right gas analyzer. It doesn't tell you what gas is present. It changes the frequency of the beeps/flashing lights due to the presence of concentrations of combustible gases. You'll know for sure when you find a leak.
