Review on ⌚ Enhanced Garmin tactix Delta: Premium GPS Smartwatch with Specialized Tactical Features, Complying with Military Standards by Ramon Hood

It's more of a tool than a smartwatch, it's perfect for me and I love it.

I wanted to do some use before submitting my review. I've had this watch for a little over a year now. I do field photography for a phone company. Part of my job is finding and identifying utility poles and getting their GPS coordinates. I used a pen device for many years, but as I got older it became too difficult to carry around survey poles, a range finder, a hammer, a notepad, a water bottle and other items, even with a backpack. I decided I needed a watch with GPS to free my arm. I've been looking closely at smartwatches, my son has Samsung and my wife has Apple. I tried both and compared them with my PDA. I work in remote areas of West Virginia where cell phone coverage is very limited. With no cellular service, I've learned that the smartwatch is no better than my Galaxy Note 8. It's getting closer, but within a hundred feet or more "close." Just not close enough. Then I came across Garmin. I've been using Garmin handhelds for years, but the price seemed crazy for a watch. I tried it anyway, and a year later I found this: It's not a smart watch. It's a tool and that's it. If you use it as a tool, you will love it. If you need a smartwatch with a bright screen to text, make calls, and read email, you're going to hate it. The display is terrible (dim, bland) compared to my son's Galaxy and my wife's Apple Watch, and the control buttons aren't very intuitive. It takes some time to get used to the controls (non-touch screen). But GPS is much more accurate. This Garmin watch sits within 5-10 feet of my pocket GPS 64. Not bad for a watch. Another thing I love is all the features that I can use outdoors. The topographic map isn't difficult to read, the compass works pretty well, the altimeter seems accurate, and all the bodily functions it tracks are an extra feature I didn't think I'd use. (heart rate, oxygen saturation, respiration, calories burned) and in a way made me more active as I can now track my progress. I wear this item kayaking, mountain biking, and hiking and can track many different stats. You can even set up widgets for each activity to show what you want to track/record. (Altitude, time, heart rate, climb altitude, descent altitude, top speed, average speed and more). For work, tracking/recording your path, getting GPS coordinates, and doing activities that are out of cellular range, Garmin blows Apple and Galaxy smartwatches away. If you're an urban or suburban warrior and just need an extension of your smartphone to wear on your wrist, then skip the Garmin, you'll be disappointed.
