2008 Toyota Highlander with auto dimming rear view mirror

Worked on my 2008 Toyota Highlander with auto dimming rear view mirror. I've tried all the popular 3M rear view mirror adhesive, Loctite and Permatex and none of them lasted more than a week. Eventually I just used the Loctite 2 part epoxy and it worked like a charm. When Dorman's new rearview mirror mount arrived, I sanded it with fine sandpaper and then cleaned it with isopropyl alcohol, being careful not to touch it. I also rubbed rubbing alcohol over the area on the windshield where the new bracket will attach. I then applied a pea sized epoxy to the metal mount and held it up to the windshield for about a minute. I then let it dry for a few days before attaching a mirror to be sure. Also make sure the car is not in direct sunlight. Extreme temperatures can affect the curing process.

Pros
  • nice touch
Cons
  • can't remember but something happened
