Bought for the rest who happen to come across beans instead of ground when buying because the packaging looked the same. It grinds the beans (not fully shelled) but you can always let them run over the top again. Not bad overall, the lever seems to slide up and down the notch a bit (making the grind a bit awkward), but it gets the job done. I now have a better understanding of why people are doing it, not only do I find it surprisingly tastes better, but the novelty of the grind gives people that "culinary frontier" feel, like they're going back to their roots or something. Again, I have a feeling this is an 'in situ' item (but not entirely disposable), but I'm not sure it will survive the 'long journey' for years to come; You're expected to spend more if you really want to get serious about it.
