You CAN do it yourself
Replacing a failed rear view camera is very easy and much cheaper. Watch some YouTube videos, order a camera and a new frame/logo and plan on doing about 15 minutes of work. The positive aspects are low cost and a high level of simplicity. Minus - the camera points are slightly lower than the standard points and a little to the left, but this is not a risk (just a nuance). There's probably a way to tweak or calibrate it, but it's fine for my purposes. I could try stuffing a toothpick in there. I still recommend this replacement to dealer service and OEM.
