It is important for every customer to know that "natural flavors" are chemicals and not natural products. Natural flavors are made through chemical processes using natural sources, including things not normally edible such as beetles, human hair, duck feathers, petroleum (oil), beaver gland secretions, and GMO corn. Unfortunately, it is not necessary to state from which source "natural flavors" come. Many health experts see this as a convenient loophole for companies. Especially since dietary supplements with natural flavors can still be called vegetarian or vegan even if they use natural animal flavors. Also, we don't know what effect natural flavors have on health. It's difficult to find a protein powder these days that doesn't contain natural flavors. A brand like HealthForce is the purest dietary supplement I know of, with no natural flavors. They may not taste like candy (natural flavors), but they do taste like the food they are made from. Hopefully one day the label will list the source of the natural flavor. In terms of protein, these vega supplements use a combination of pea, alfalfa, pumpkin seed, and organic sunflower seed proteins. This blend contains all the essential amino acids. Paying $50 for 19 servings of protein is $2.63 for 30g of protein. Do the math and it's 2-3 times more expensive than other companies offering similar non-organic blends without superfoods. Personally I think Vega is overpriced for real quality food in a well sold package. I consider (and prefer) brands like HealthForce and Vibrant Health to be premium supplements of the highest quality. At a lower cost per serving and gram of protein than Vega, these 2 brands give you a much healthier ingredient list. With Vibrant Health you get a unique blend of organic superfoods and herbs. If I had to rate the quality of this Vega protein powder I would say 6 out of 10. I would rate most brands a 3 or 4, while Health Force Warrior Food and Vibrant Health would be 8 and 9 respectively.
