While the design of this item appears great, there is one major flaw - at least for me. it snaps into place well - but that soon changes when you place something with a light weight on it. I installed a Rode video mic with the "Screw on" hot shoe adapter on it. It soon became apparent that this light weight caused the adapter to rotate every time I moved slightly left or right. That is, the mount rotated even though it was fully "tightened." If you don't plan on moving/walking your camera or taking mobile photos then it's probably fine. Like a fixed tripod with horizontal movement only. Unfortunately I'm stuck with this and can't get it back, so hopefully I can save someone else some trouble. While I don't have any recommendations for the best option, I would say that you should look at some mounts and see which ones are slightly stronger.
