We have 3 dogs, one barks and spurs the other two on so we decided to give it a try. We set it low and our dogs won't bark more than once which is fantastic as it's exactly what we wanted. However, there are several issues with the device, firstly, it can be activated simply by holding it in your hand when it is turned on. I don't make a sound when I pick it up, just lift it off the surface. This can also provoke my normally speaking wife, which we found out from our dogs' reactions. Also beware if you have a TV this can also cause this. Now we just turn it on when we're expecting a delivery or someone else, and it definitely gets dogs to do things twice when they bark. I can only imagine their reaction at higher settings. Due to issues with frequent firing I can't give it 5 stars but if you need a bark remedy I would try it, it works on all 3 of our dogs.
