Review on LEXIN B4FM Bluetooth Headset for Motorcycles - 10 Riders, Music Sharing, Noise Cancellation, FM Radio, Universal Communication Systems for ATV/Dirt Bike by Jeff Rhodes

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Full helmet and still barely audible at highway speeds

With a full helmet (Bell Qualifier DLX) I can hear reasonably clearly below 40mph, but beyond that the speakers just aren't good enough. I tucked the backs of the speakers into the helmet's integrated headphone pockets to move them closer to my ears, but that doesn't really help. I was on the phone with someone at 60mph and they said they couldn't even hear the wind around me, which is good, but I just couldn't hear them very well - so the mic and noise-cancellation seem to be good (again with a full-face helmet and a microphone attached directly to the mouth) The speakers are very high-pitched and there isn't much bass at all. I mainly drive in St Charles County, Missouri about 20-40 miles from most of the FM radio stations in St Louis and they just aren't very strong, lots of interference. So if you're not in the area with an FM station, forget about FM on this unit. It works great for Bluetooth with my phone/music apps, but again I can only really hear anything at lower speeds. I opened it up and there was NO antenna cable in there, and what a difference (in my experience) it would make. So I'm hoping to find a place on the inside of the board to solder the wire for the antenna - I'll have to research the board/parts and hopefully find a place. Inside the case is a place to coil 14-16 gauge antenna wire, so shame on Leksin for that elementary oversight. Battery life is great, but with lithium these days it's less of a credit to those using it in their product than where we are with battery technology these days. So with all that. I have 3 points and almost. I would choose 4 with an FM antenna and then 5 with really great speakers/headphones. I'm hoping to replace the headphones myself - there's a piece on the cable to disconnect the headphones from the mic so we'll see.
