First off I'm obsessed with red and black stuff. So here's what. Almost all of my gadgets are red and black, so this case shouldn't have been a problem. I put off the purchase mainly because of the price. When I first saw it, it was $35. I finally got it when it dropped to $30 and wished I'd pulled the trigger sooner. I checked out a few other cases in the meantime, including the "tire tread" silicone leather (which eventually stretched and got very loose) and Cygnett's textured TPU case. I would probably go for the TPU case if I hadn't recently bought a Fonesalesman iQi Mobile wireless charging adapter. The Cygnett case was great, but it didn't work well with the iQi adapter - it made the bottom of the case a little lumpy and uneven, and I couldn't stand it. I went looking for a case that could be adapted to my needs and came back to the CandyShell Grip. It has a hard "candy shell" on the outside and a pliable, shock-absorbing rubber interior. I found where the bulkiest parts of the iQi adapter were during installation and cut out a small square of red rubber to give the components more room. It's probably less than a square inch and you can't tell at all when the iPod is inserted. Now the iQi sits perfectly and the iPod no longer wobbles when you put it down. Best of all, charging the iQi adapter 'back, back off' seems to have cured it when the device is 100% charged. Even without the mods I made, the case looks and feels really, REALLY good. It's grippy but not so hard that it's hard to get it out of your pocket. The bevel around the screen is nice and thick, which prevents damage to the screen when placed face down. I like that there are two materials that protect the device a little differently - the hard shell protects against impacts, while the rubber absorbs shocks. The buttons are all easy to press and this is the first case I have. You can see where the openings for the charging and headphone ports are big enough to use most ports. This is also the first time I've seen an easy-to-access, spring-loaded lanyard clip. I don't use it, but it's nice to see it's there and well designed. The only drawback I can think of is that there is no screen protector. It doesn't bother me as I already have a brand I prefer, but it might be important to others. I only wish they had made CandyShell Grip in the same color combo for the Galaxy S4! Black and gray is good, but black and red would be great :)
