Review on πŸ”Œ Zojirushi EB-DLC10 Electric Grill for Indoor Use by Patrick Pearson

Citizen Must Have

This was a late Christmas present for my husband who was devastated when the developers came in for a rented spot where we had a garden and a nice kettle grill. We've ended up in a bigger and nicer place that's ours forever, but there's no yard. The loss is real, and it's not just his. He loves to grill and does it wonderfully. We ate like kings all summer long. When he initially dismissed the idea of a home grill, I insisted. And I've done my homework. This grill (like almost every electric indoor grill) has a non-stick coating. It's probably PFOA free, but in my opinion the onus on proving that chemical coatings are safe for their intended purpose lies with the manufacturer and this has never been done in the chemical industry. The intended purpose here also includes very high temperatures, where historically these things have tended to be least safe. SO - DO NOT scratch. FWIW, I have two other Zojirushi devices with non-stick surfaces, neither of which have scratched a drop in 7 years on one and 9 on the other, which is why I chose this brand. Pros: It really heats up. It's going to be VERY hot. It actually roasts and roasts food. Virtually no smoke. Clean properly (those George Foreman grill sponges are a must), pour water in the pan and ventilate the cooking area, and you won't set off all the interconnected fire alarms in your apartment building. He is tall. Large enough to cook meals for a family of four. Easy. It's fast. Probably because it's hot. CONS: Cleaning requires care and thought. If you miss dirt, it will smoke. If you scratch him, you will kill him. One of the plastic tabs broke the first day we set it up. It takes some ingenuity to bring the taste of the grill closer. Despite these shortcomings, the whole family is happy with this purchase. It is widely used and makes life in the city a little more homely.
