Judging by the product photo and the color name (garnet) of this sock, I was expecting to get socks in a cool shade of red. What we got was more of a fire engine red. Luckily, my little skier accepted this option, even though she was hoping for something else. We have several pairs of Smartwool ski socks in other colors and they are great for night skiing, racing and extended play on the slopes. They wash well and shed after a few washes. I haven't noticed any unexpected shrinkage even though I wash with cold or warm water and tumble dry low. When it comes to wear and tear, this particular pair of grenades is no exception to the trend.
