Review on JVC HAFY8BTW Wireless Earbud Headphones: Sweatproof, 5-Hour Battery Life, Secure Fit by Yolanda Reed

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Surprisingly decent sound, cheap build quality. "Well, as long as they last " I'd say.

They were pretty darn easy to use, connected to my phone quickly and intuitively, fit comfortably in my ears and sounded way better than I expected. Quite acceptable for listening to music. The length of the cable suits me, it doesn't bother me. The downside is that the design feels cheap. The little rubber door over the charging port doesn't stay down, allowing sweat, rain, dirt, etc. to get in unless sealed with tape. So much for protection from sweat and splashes. There's no amplification for very thin wires where they go into earbuds or the main unit, meaning they can get muddled after a little bending; and something like that cannot be fixed. Basically you will return them within the warranty period and throw them away if they break later. For this reason the warranty period isn't listed in Revain's item information, although apparently you can "request" it, but in the documents that come with it it promises a year for parts and labor if you send them a defective one back and if they decide that you have not exposed it to unusual conditions. Not sure how well JVC will respond, but a year is probably a good warranty for such a flimsy part. On a decimal scale I would rate this product around a 3.6 which means it gets 4 stars from me. I will revisit the review as I have used it a bit more. I won't be returning it due to a defective card port cover, I'll probably use some blue masking tape over it which isn't ideal. So: the sound was good enough to surprise me, the functionality is good, the build quality doesn't convince me.
