This is a fairly fragile plastic, but it just needs to stay in place and protect the engine from the rain. The instructions could have been better. It features two cutouts for motor wiring. You have three main problems. 1) The instructions say "Carefully cut through the material in the knockout groove with a sharp knife." I got started and it wasn't easy. It would be pretty easy for someone to slip and cut themselves. A much better design approach would be to remove the connector and cover it if necessary. 2) When I cut out the connector I realized it would not fit my engine. If I had used a knockout my 1-1/2hp Century USQ1152 motor that I bought from Revain would not have been properly protected. This required me to cut a slit. I used a Dremel with a cut-off wheel, but that shouldn't have been necessary. 3) The cover snaps onto the motor and I highly doubt it will stay in place for the next tropical storm.
