Blue Devil B8200C Motor Adjustable Review

I like this product. Sure, it's cheap plastic, but for $20 you can fit a pool pump motor to protect it from the weather and sun. The good thing is that plastic doesn't rust. It required some modifications to properly fit my Hayward Tristar and Zodiac Polaris Booster Pump. Although the promotional photo shows the sides of the cover to be black, the devices I received were blue. I sanded down the sides and applied a plastic primer and then black enamel paint to hide the blue.

Overall this case does the job for a versatile application. As you can see from my photos I had to cut a hole for the power lines to my pump but I think it was easier than using knockouts on the side. One person's review mentioned that they were worried about the lid blowing off if we were hit by a tropical storm and I live in Florida so I understand the dilemma and think it would be the least of my worries if a big one Storm hits my area, but high winds are a daily occurrence for me, so I…

Installed yesterday. easy setup, easy installation. In a previous review, I noted that one reviewer complained about heat build-up. I was concerned about this and noticed during installation that there are cooling air vents on the back of my pump that are not visible from the front and the feet that attach to the pump can easily block them. This is a fairly fragile plastic, but it just needs to stay in place and protect the engine from the rain. The instructions could have been better. It features two cutouts for motor wiring. You have three main problems. 1) The instructions say "Carefully cut through the material in the knockout groove with a sharp knife." I got started and it wasn't easy.
