Felt hard without packaging. But it's not real leather. So you should expect it to be a bit "artificial". It became more flexible with use. So it's not the highest quality material, but that's what they say. I love it! It's just the right size for me. I don't like big bags, but small ones are often too small to fit everything you need. I also don't like it when my bags look flashy and pretentious. I'm a more relaxed girl. And it has a few other "pockets" that I love because I'm organized and hate digging around and looking for stuff. Goes perfectly with my looks/outfits as I wear it over the shoulder. So that suits me. I hope it lasts. :)
