We have a 24 foot dryer vent pipe that terminates in three right angles before going through the floor into a flexible vent hose from the dryer. I can't sit down at the dryer without moving both the washer and dryer and they are HEAVY. So, out of laziness, I decided to clean the ventilation from the outside in. I did not use a vacuum, blower or any type of suction device. I tightened each section of pipe with pliers and sealed them with tape. I inserted every 24 feet of hose with brush ends into the external vent and then pulled it out. I have a decent amount of fluff. Then I turned on the dryer to blow it all out. I can't breathe at all. My fears were justified, at the end of the run I drove the shags at right angles. I still didn't want to move this washer and dryer, so I decided to give the chopping attachment one more try. Now I was getting really lazy, so I hand tightened each section of tubing (no pliers) and didn't use tape. I pushed the entire 24 feet of hose into the vent until I met some resistance, then rotated the hose by hand (too lazy to put a drill in). Then I pulled everything out, but there was no fluff left. Now I've resigned myself to having to move the washer and dryer, but before that I figured I could turn on the dryer and see what happens. Many fluff balls flew out and came out for about 20 seconds. I have attached his photos. I am very happy with this product and if it has worked for me with all the shortcuts I have used, it will probably work well for you too. For reference, we built this house five years ago and this is the first time I've cleaned the vent. It used to take 45 minutes to dry ten towels, now it takes 3 to 4 hours so I knew I couldn't put off cleaning the pipe any longer.
