Review on Keep your Herbs Fresh for Weeks with NOVART XXL Premium Glass Herb Keeper and Storage Container by Samuel Browning

I really liked this herb holder, despite my initial concerns about the fragility of the glass and the size. It just worked so well. But when I recently pulled it out to use, the metal tube and base came loose. There was some gross mold. When I removed the pipe from the top there was mold/growth as well. Limiting my exposure to mold is important to me for health reasons, so I was very concerned about this discovery. I'm not sure how I can even safely use this product as mold and mold spores start growing easily in a humid environment and are difficult to kill completely. Bleaching? Not the best idea for metal. Vinegar? May be. The IDK kind of messed up my experience here. It's long past time to return this thing, so now I have to decide whether I should try to be super vigilant about hygiene, or give up and throw this damn thing away. Part of my frustration is with the design. Manufacturer. Why not develop a sealed upper to prevent this? It never occurred to me that the metal tube would come loose and encourage mold. Am I missing something in the fine print?
