Signal is too hot for my A7iii

I bought this to use with my A7iii but the signal is too hot even with the mic input volume set to 1 . This is normal when speaking at a normal volume about 2 feet away indoors. As you get closer/louder, the sound will be distorted. When you run out of ambient noise, everything you ever want to record will definitely get cut off from time to time. However, the sound quality is very good if you can avoid clipping. Sony cameras tend to have a better mic preamp so this probably won't work without attenuators, but it should work fine with Canon or Gopros cameras. staying on my A7iii for now until I find a better alternative.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from the testers
Cons
  • Some minor issues
