So they appear to be of very poor quality, they are only good for low voltage experiments. I would not recommend these for AC applications as they are very low quality. The base is made of plastic and metal, with most of the ones I have tried so far the bulb sits in the socket and falls out. This works for my needs. Also, I noticed that some of the screws holding the electrical wires to it were deformed and I had to replace them. They screw into a piece of wood or whatever you choose as they have two screw holes, one on each side at 90 degrees to the electrical connections. I cannot stress enough that they are very poor quality and I do not recommend them for AC. I know you can use them with AC.
