Efficient, affordable brewer

Some people prefer paper filter coffee, but I wanted to reduce waste and had to keep buying filters. I bought this coffee maker along with a Cosori gooseneck cordless kettle. I chose this model because the filter basket is also made entirely of stainless steel. High-quality inner mesh, no corners and edges, easy to clean. The drip holes are well sized and positioned for the brew time, and they do a good job of reducing the cloudiness you can get with strainers. The entire interior is lined with mesh. I use a straight medium drip grind - number 8 on the Cuisinart Supreme Grinder - with a medium dark roast at a coffee to water ratio of 1:15. This is a great combination, but not suitable for brewing. full force. At a ratio of 1:15, that's about 40 g of coffee in 600 ml of water. The filter basket is quite full and it is difficult to get an even extraction. Freshly roasted beans are also blooming. Brewing a small portion of 20g of coffee in 300ml of water leaves enough space for the coffee grounds to sink. I find this gives a consistent extraction and the perfect flavor for my medium roast coffee. In fact, I prefer it to my Kalita at the moment. If you're looking for an alternative to a Chimex brewer, this is a great option. Just don't expect to brew large batches.
