This kind of extension cords is always like that - well for me. I would never trust them too much because they put additional strain on your current power cord. However, I have to use it, otherwise it means extra money for a power supply that I don't really need. I started using one of these in my embedded NAS and it worked fine. I recently upgraded my NAS drives from 8 to 10 and moved my rig from Itx case + drive cage => mid-size ATX case. I then used this along with a 1-2 SATA power splitter cable. So one of my lines would be an EVGA 3 head SATA power cable + this extension cable + Y splitter. I hesitated a bit but decided to give it a try anyway. The power consumption is not that big, so everything should be fine. And it works. For this reason I give this extension 5 stars. However, it is always YMMV. If your cable shows signs of a problem that's bound to happen to someone eventually (it's a gamble) and when in doubt you don't use it, it's easy. Tips: Check the cable connections, check the metal of the SATA power head. qualitative. If you don't find anything out of the ordinary, you should be fine.
