2006 Silverado LS Standard Cab Long Bed Flex-Fuel 4X4 with DTC P0449

This AC Delco part #214-2149 is the same as GM GMC #25932571. It is the exact same part that is found on many Chevrolet Silverado's OEM was with a different part number (Chevrolet). Circa 2004 Chevrolet modified this part to accommodate a remotely mounted breather filter. If you are replacing the original unit with a "kit" and want to mount an air breather filter externally, the AC Delco part number is 214-2082. If you often drive on dirt roads, this is something to consider. Obviously most parts suppliers (including Revain) have a database of more recent "kit" information and will inform you that the direct original part is not applicable/will not fit. Look at the unit under your car, if it looks like this AC Delco 214-2149 it should fit. There are two main reasons why these devices fail. Firstly, the secondary air filter clogs with dirt/dust and secondly, it overflows when refueling. It was my own sin. When the pump stops, EXIT! I spent most of the week researching this issue and concluded that this part of the GMC was the same as my Chevy. I found that I would need a short 5/8" heater hose and two screw clamps. I placed a jack under the rear differential and jacked the car up. Floor jacks for ease of movement. After that, I dropped onto my Velcro adjustable headrest and found that I had plenty of room under the truck.I have found that I have good access to the EVAP canister which in my case is mounted behind/behind the gas tank.Disconnect the solenoid control wiring by loosening the retaining clip and pull them down and then move them to the side I decided to cut the hard vent line rather than try to heat it with a hair dryer/blower and take it off I left the canister installed to back up and Also inserted a small piece of 2X4 behind the vent line for the same reason.I decided to make a cut an inch from the end of the de s to make the connecting nipple of the canister line. made easy a nice clean cut h tough vent tube. After doing this, I removed the canister by pressing down on the locking latch and sliding it back and off the bracket. I slipped a two inch (2 inch) length of my 5/8 inch heater hose onto the new canister's nipple and loosely screwed two screw ties onto it. Back under the truck I placed a new canister on the bracket and inserted the cut vent line into the other end of the heater hose. Then I mounted two screw clamps and tightened them. Fits good. I routed the wiring harness back through the hard vent line as it was originally and inserted the connector into the connector on the canister (solenoid), making sure it snapped into place. driving cycle. I checked the truck the next day with no problems. Life is great again. The location of the EVAP cans depends on the model and styling of the vehicle. These notes only apply to the vehicle described above. I hope this information was useful to someone.
