I bought this product because it was cheap and should do what I need to protect my camera from the outside. 3 times more expensive) for comparison. I was fully prepared to return this one and/or take it apart for my own case. This case is GREAT so I have no idea what these bad reviewers were talking about! I've had plenty of time to use this one so thought it was time to check it out. It took me a minute to figure out how to open the case because there aren't any obvious options other than opening it and turns out that's what you have to do. Construction is clean, just a bit of dirty glue on the front edge of the case. I understand they are handmade so that's not a problem. The camera fits snugly and snaps into place with spring-loaded tabs on the camera body. I've used the camera day and night and haven't had any issues like others with glare or poor fit. The heatsink is an important part of this case and really helps keep the camera cool. Few know that the back of the socket/dropcam is made of metal with a rubberized finish. The back is metal to keep the 3 chips inside cool. On the back of the board are 3 chips with thermal pads on them. This thermal pad and metal backing help dissipate heat away from the camera. Overall I really like this case and would give it 5 stars if it weren't for a few things. - The cover is not fully waterproof. . They advertise that it's weather resistant and WORKS in most weather conditions, but I'm sure there will be some moisture in the case a few times a year due to a big storm. Consumers often confuse the terms "weatherproof" and "waterproof", which is something manufacturers have to deal with. If in this case there were additional conditions for impregnation, I think the manufacturer could ask a little more and have a product that beats the competition. The acute angle where the USB cable is located (as mentioned) is not ideal and can be solved by including a 90Β° USB cable or plugging it in as an accessory (upsale). A 90Β° USB cable will set you back about $4-$10 shipped from ebay/amazon. The sound and response of the microphone are not bad, but they don't come close to a mere camera either. But what can you do if you seal everything. The heatsink is a great thing in this case, and unless you want to shell out a bunch of bucks for another case, no one is offering a heatsink case at this price point. The thermal pad inside the case is crucial to the heatsink design (something the competition missed), but in this case the pad is too thin to make full contact with the back of the camera. The manufacturer should replace it with a thicker pad (which I will do).
