After the clothes have been removed from the dryer, the scent remains subtle, not at all overpowering like traditional fabric softeners. It has a natural smell, not the strong sugary chemical smell you can smell on someone else's clothing from five feet away. But if you lay your head on the pillow, it's a very light scent that will make you smile. Tip: You don't have to constantly add it to the wash cycle. Put some on a clean cloth and let it dry. Toss this rag in the dryer with wet clothes and it will serve as a drying towel. Use it over and over until there is very little left. The bottle lasts much longer. I bought a lavender washcloth just for this purpose so I know which one. By the way, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find this product. I've been using it for years, it used to be in my organic/health food store but it's not available anymore and other retailers don't sell it either.
