So Clean Pump Replacement

My So Clean machine stopped pumping ozone properly into my CPAP machine and of course it's out of warranty. I took a chance with this pump and it worked! If you are reading this you are probably in the same situation and do not want to spend a lot of money to repair or replace your vacuum cleaner. Some Notes: Disassembly: The SC machine has (5) pan head screws on the bottom of the unit. , 4 in each corner and a 5th in the middle of the base, covered with a "blank if removed" sticker. Do not remove the (4) pan head screws, they only hold the bracket in the machine underneath. Once the five screws are removed, the unit disassembles fairly easily - no prying required to disassemble. The relatively simple SC unit has a control board (with programming buttons on the front panel), an air pump and an ozone generator. . The air pump is a simple diaphragm pump with a rubber seal that is subject to failure. The new pump is the same size as the pump in the unit but is NOT a direct replacement. It doesn't fit perfectly in the space left by removing the old pump, but there is enough room inside to place the new pump at the angle needed to accommodate the modified air vent on top. The new pump pressure outlet is located at the "top" flat end of the unit, which connects to the ozone generator via a check valve and hose. The vacuum side of the pump is on the round side of the device and connects to a small air inlet on the back of the device. The vacuum inlet hose connection for the old pump was too short, so I cut a length of hose from the external ozone outlet to the CPAP machine. You will need a pencil soldering iron to desolder the old pump - the wires are color coded Red+ and Black - solder the appropriate wire to the new pump. The plumbing does not allow the new pump to be attached in the same way as the old pump, it dangles and stands at an angle when connecting the air lines. The operation of the new pump is exactly the same as the old one, with the notable exception that it is much quieter than the old pump's buzzing sound. Good luck with the repair!
