. I've played around with PCs and gaming devices a lot, and one of the problems I've had in the past has been having to unplug the USB port on my old adapters. cable and then plug it back in when I want to replace the hard drive, either to reformat it or to see if I need anything from them. I wanted a different adapter that was easier for me to use so I could swap out hard drives as needed without having to unplug the unit every time I want to connect a new hard drive. That fits the bill! I LOVE having an on/off switch on the unit so I can hot swap a drive after formatting one and plugging in another. I am very happy with the purchase of this adapter and I doubt I will have to buy another one in the future. I actually have 2 of these types of adapters that don't have an on/off switch (originally it was only USB 2.0, then I upgraded to USB 3.0), but now I use this one. The other 2 I will most likely just give away as I will most likely never need them again.
