That came as a surprise to me. I didn't think it would work well when I got it. The lid doesn't hold and the small lid came off too easily. However, there are plastic ribs on one side of the container that actually wash out the brush when there is some water in it. The other side can hold clean water after you wash the brush on the other side. There are also two other plastic parts that also draw paint from the brushes. I tried using a paint mixing lid but it was very difficult to clean - especially the acrylic. In general, I would buy it again. This is a great little water bucket,
