I've used much cheaper smart bulbs and competitors and I think GE has a great deal. This starter kit has a very cool dimmer, one of the nicest smart bulbs and although the app was in its infancy it has gotten better in the last month and I am very happy with it. Installation is easy. Both the switch and the bulb generate their own Wi-Fi signal, which you connect your phone to after downloading the "C" app. From there, it's quick and easy to link it to Alexa. I rarely go to the app when Alexa has it because I've used five brands of these lights and can't usually remember which app goes with which light. Integrating with Alexa is straightforward. You can group this with other lights, you can change the tone and brightness with sane voice commands. It just works. The dimmer looks really great. Way better than the competition and looks like it's going to last for decades. To install a dimmer you need ground. For me that was never a problem. I noticed that the lightbulb is getting hot. I doubt it's really the most energy efficient. I think lightbulbs without an active internet connection use less power, but I haven't found a way to prove this. Regardless the light will last for many years and I really like the quality of the light and it doesn't cost more than $1.50 a year on my electric bill. You get a really good product for the money. It's not the cheapest, but it's there. not the cheapest.
