Review on Centon Electronics 128GB Sport USB 2.0 DataStick (S1-U2W1-128G) by Matthias Foxx

I have a drawer full of USB flash drives and I don't remember one of them failing (well, maybe one failed). I used to only buy the SanDisk brand, but I now have about a dozen Centon Sport drives of various sizes, including a third 128GB, and have had no problems. I'm not the type to compare the performance of one USB drive to another, but I haven't encountered any notable slowness or usage issues with this drive. I try to make sure I use the "eject" process before disconnecting, but there are times I forgot and still haven't had any crashing issues. I often move this model between Macbook Pro, Ubuntu and a couple of Windows computers with no problem. In my opinion, the two main causes of USB drive failure are: * Physical: A power surge or static discharge when inserted or removed from a computer will damage the chip. Damage to the USB connector can damage the wiring or circuitry inside the device. Mfg bugs can be the cause of crashes, but I'm inclined to think there are far fewer of them than the user comments suggest. * Software: File Allocation Table (FAT) disk corruption will be removed from the computer if this file is edited. For this reason, you should always use the Eject or Stop tool before ejecting a drive, or only remove it when you turn off your computer. Pros: * 128GB capacity is really convenient to get data on fewer USB sticks. * Rubber casing keeps out dust/dirt when placed in a computer bag. Besides, it can be basically waterproof when washed. Cons: *Price is relative - my first purchase of this CD was over $130 a few years ago. When I saw it recently for the low price of $50 I bought another one. * The risk of a larger capacity device is like putting all your eggs in one basket. In the event of a failure, further data is lost. However, everyone should have a good backup/restore process to reduce the risk of data loss, e.g. B. cloud storage, multiple physical devices, RAID drives, etc.* This drive no longer has a small key ring and latches, which I find very useful. but that doesn't detract from the functionality.
