I only received it yesterday so I can't comment on durability. However, I bought it to mount under my desk's bookshelf as I couldn't see my keyboard. I've used 3 evenly placed across the table and they provide an even amount of light, just enough for what I need without glare. I like that they are dimmable and have a remote control. I also like the auto shut off feature so the batteries aren't wasted when not in use. I was afraid to install as I assumed I would have to program the remotes to work with any light. No programming required. Remote controls are programmed to control all light sources. That's probably why some people have trouble with remotes controlling other lights nearby. Keeping them close and aiming directly at the light you want to control can help you avoid this problem. As for the difficulties with the battery compartment, there are also small locking tabs that need to be aligned with the slots before screwing in. . Find them and it will be less difficult. The suggestion is that the glue doesn't work. Maybe try reattaching the battery covers and attaching the lights/batteries the next day so there is less stress on the adhesive as it cures. I like them except wish they were a different color. I was looking for a matte chrome to match the bookshelf lights and hardware on my desk, but otherwise they're fine so far.
