Review on BGSD Men Mark 3-Button Distressed Leather Sport Coat Jacket | Cowhide Blazer by James Hess

I'm a big guy (6', 235 lbs) and hard to fit for sports coats so I was pretty happy with the XXL in this jacket. It's just a tiny bit snug in the middle (pot belly) but I'm at the high end of my weight and expect it to be perfect when I lose my winter fat. The sleeves are a bit too long standing with arms at sides, but perfect for driving. I don't really like the finish. It's a kind of dull dark brown from tumbling the leather in sand (or whatever they did) to give it a distressed look. Personally I don't think they quite pulled it off. I know I'm not supposed to put a leather dressing on it but I'm going to do it anyway to even out the surface texture. I tested a small area inside a pocket and the dressing I use on my leather recliner doesn't change the color, just gives it a more appealing surface texture. Another thing I don't like is it smells bad. I'm not sure what it smells like; maybe the chemicals they use to process the leather but it definitely doesn't have a new leather smell. My plan is to let it air out for a few days, then give it a coat of leather dressing, and let it air for a few more days. I expect that will do the trick. If it doesn't, I'll update the post. It sounds like I'm really complaining, but I'm happy that the jacket doesn't have issues I can't resolve myself. I hate having to return things! Over all, I'm pretty satisfied with the jacket.UPDATE! 8/17/18: I've been wearing this jacket for about a year now and I like it more as time passes. My two biggest issues in my previous review were the surface texture/finish and the smell. The leather surface texture has come into its own as it wears and ages. The jacket looks better every time I wear it! As I guessed in my previous review, the bad smell went away after airing it out for a few days and it began to smell like leather. Both of my concerns vanished after a few wearings and I'm completely happy with the jacket now so I'm up-grading it to a 5 star.
