This is my first hand stabilizer that I own. I have used gimbals from other manufacturers such as DJI and Movi on professional shoots in the past. My company has the original DJI Ronin. I didn't feel the need for a one-handed gimbal like the Zhiyun Tech Weebill-S, but after using a friend's DJI Ronin-S, my opinion of them has changed. The freedom to use smaller cameras like mirrorless cameras and the ease of setup changed the look. I needed a stabilizer for a small commercial shoot at a construction site. I didn't want to carry a lot of photo gear as we would be moving quickly. It only took me a few hours to figure out how to balance the Weebill-S with the Sony A7Riii. I like the quick release plate as it allowed me to take the camera on and off the gimbal without changing the balance. I balanced it once and didn't have to change it again. I have heard that the Weebill S motors are more powerful than the crane and although I have never used a crane I have no doubt that they are more powerful. When shooting in different lighting conditions, I was able to toggle the variable ND filter on and off and change the focal length of my zoom lens directly on the gimbal without having to rebalance. The motors didn't need auto-tuning either, which amazed me. The other major benefit of this gimbal was the ability to switch from downward mode to vertical mode in a matter of seconds. I had to unscrew the tripod's bottom handle every time I wanted to switch to low-power mode, but it wasn't a big deal. I've since bought a quick-change adapter that Zhiyun makes to speed up this process. The battery life of this gimbal was excellent. This went for at least 6 hours at about half power. Recharge batteries during lunch break. Switching between different shooting modes was very easy and flawless. I had trouble getting into underslug mode a few times, but I attribute it more to my inexperience with the different modes than to the system itself. Once I figured that out, it was very easy to switch back and forth. I haven't tried using the wireless transmission module yet. I figured it would be something I wouldn't use as the battery only lasts about an hour and a half. At the moment I have no need for wireless monitoring of the camera, although I like the implementation of installing the unit under the camera system. Overall, I'm happy with Weebill-S. It has a good price for such a gimbal and is very well made. Yes, and locking mechanisms on each axis make it easy to transport and set up. I never had anything like this on my original DJI Ronin and it makes you wonder why they didn't think of this feature from the start.
