I was looking for an inexpensive external loudspeaker for my Icom IC-7300 radio. I was pleasantly surprised by the performance of this inexpensive $11 speaker considering the Icom companion speaker will cost $175. The speaker is housed in a 4 x 4 x 2.5 inch plastic enclosure and comes with a 3.5mm mono plug at the end of an approximately 4 foot cable. Since I use Morse code and am mostly interested in the 700Hz tone, I opened up the case and wrapped the speaker cone in open-cell foam to dampen the high-frequency response a bit. Rated for 2.5 watts of audio output power, the IC-7300 will run much louder with this speaker than I would ever want in a room. The speaker comes with a metal bracket for wall mounting. This bracket can be easily removed to use the speaker on a table.
