Reliable keyboard with some limitations

I had a Razer Tartarus V2 and after a while some of the keys started to stick so it was time for a replacement. After much research I was torn between this and the Reddagon K585. My biggest issues with the K585 were that it required software to tweak the settings and add the N and P keys (just a matter of preference). This keyboard has everything you need (corner spacebar, mechanical switches, textured WASD keys, B/M), but the only real issues I have are 1) the switches aren't hot-swappable, so you'll need some soldering experience to change them 2) Some modifications to the switches may be needed to make them work properly (I used Cherry MX red; had to remove the top clip and open the hole for the LED a bit) 3 ) Windows key replaced with Fn key (not necessarily a rogue) So the programming is self-contained, which is good, but the main downside to this is that your macros are limited to keys on THIS keyboard. 4) The number keys are slightly offset. I have small hands (5ft 6in) and adjusting it wasn't a big issue for me. 5) The palm rest isn't removable but has a nice rubberized feel, which isn't a disadvantage for me but might be a disadvantage for others. All in all, if you're looking for a basic keyboard and don't mind working on toggle switches, this is definitely a good choice.

Pros
  • Record and delete macros
Cons
  • Expensive
