The whole device is held by magnets, there is no way to tighten it to keep the phone in a specific place. On my phone (Iphone 12 pro max) the metal strip needs to be installed right in the middle which blocks any wireless charging function otherwise the phone just lets the mount rotate. I probably don't describe it well. to is a strong magnet. there are no problems. The disc sits on a magnetic sphere that can be adjusted to hold the phone in certain positions, but since there's no way to press the disc against the sphere, it doesn't take much force to move it. If the phone is not centered on the disc, uneven weight distribution will cause the disc to rotate on the sphere, your phone will end up upside down or where the most weight is. It will likely work with lighter, smaller phones.
