I needed a sleek cart to fill my vanity space and this is just the right size. The distance between the bottom of one shelf and the bottom edge of the one above is just over 10 inches. I didn't bother to add wheels as it was too big for the space but there is room at the bottom to add sliders so it slides out easily. When I take it out of the closet, it doesn't look thin. I didn't expect this cart to be sturdy, but it does hold plastic aerosol cans and vitamin bottles. Baskets are plastic and don't hold much weight, so not for hardware, but it works well for bathroom items. Place heavier items on the lower shelves. It was easy to assemble: I used a rubber mallet to secure the metal parts The posts were certainly level to make sure they were level, but these items are not required to create a shelf. If you're not looking for a trolley, to store heavy metal objects this is great.
