Review on Schmidt's Children's Toothpaste: Mint + Berry Flavor, Fluoride-Free for Clean Teeth - 4.7 oz, 6 Count by Bob Richardson

Kids Toothpaste Contains Xylitol

We used another brand of organic coconut toothpaste that didn't contain fluoride so I decided to try that for comparison. I love that this toothpaste is free of SLS, SCS, PEG, Triclosan, and artificial sweeteners, flavors, and colors. However, it does contain xylitol, which is not in my current brand. I'm really disappointed that this sweetener is in this toothpaste. The label states that the user should minimize swallowing, but this is a bit more difficult for children to follow. It tastes like coconut and pineapple, which isn't bad at all, so I would be concerned that Little Mister would like the taste and wolf it down afterwards. It doesn't lather at all, but does a good job of removing bacteria for a clean mouthfeel. I like that it doesn't leave a film or residue in the mouth like some toothpastes do. Overall, it provides an excellent fluoride-free cleanse, although I probably wouldn't recommend it for kids due to the xylitol.
