Review on SCOSCHE SAC656 1995 Up Speaker Adapter by Paul Dahl

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Fits Elantra 06 with some modifications for 6.75 speakers.

Please note that this review is about adapters and is specific to Hyundai Elantra 04-06. Drill new holes for my 6.75 speakers. I gave this product 4 stars because it didn't come with mounting hardware, which isn't a big deal but would have been nice. My project consisted of Rockford Fosgate 6.75 speakers. In order for these brackets to work I had to align them on the adapter so that there was enough room in the 4 outer holes to screw the original hardware from the factory speakers to the door panel. Just drilled new holes and everything works as desired. I used pan head screws with nuts to attach the bracket to the speakers, otherwise the speaker would not fit flush with the speaker mounting hardware in the hole in the door panel. Finally I taped under the bracket and the outside edge of the speakers with 10mm foam tape to reduce rattling. I also modified the air duct on the door panel itself, it felt like the surround speaker was hitting it so I just took wire cutters and cut off some of the plastic. It was also a little tricky threading the speaker wire harness into the door panel, I ended up threading it through the hole in the bottom left corner. *Just as a side note, it might be a good idea to replace some parts of the wiring with tape, on my machine the original tape came loose. 06 Elantra (XD/XD2) requires 6.75 front and 6x9 rear. Installing my Rockford Fosgate 6.75 would have followed the steps above, but I find if I had used 6 1/2 speakers I would not have had the problems I was having. The Elantraxd.com DIY forum also has a very good guide on where to make your own braces, but I didn't have the tools to make my own, it's still worth checking out. *One more note: adapters also work well as release agents. Speakers up to 2.75 inches deep can be mounted with these brackets without touching the rolling window pane.

Pros
  • Easy to read control panel
Cons
  • Definitely bad product
