Review on Lisle 62300 MacPherson Strut Tool: The Ultimate Solution for Effortless Strut Repairs in Sleek Black by Everette Jean

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Extra coarse thread screw and thin wall nut

The packaging and some parts state that this is for McPherson struts only, not coil springs. Separately, I bought these to replace my shocks with a Tacoma 07, but as a compressor safety tool - it will be a third compressor with a safety spool to back up the two main compressor tools I will be using. I can even use both, 4 in total if they all fit. Coils I bought dishes ARB 2885 17 mm thick. I need to open the U-bolts 0.2mm as they are 16.85mm wide. The Class 8 3/4" bolt is 10" long and has an extra coarse thread pitch of 6 threads per inch. The nut is very thin walled and only has 2-3 threads to engage the bolt - that's a fairly small number of threads to engage the bolt. The thread is deep and quite thick, but I would be more comfortable with a wider nut. I can use the 3/4" bolt from my ball joint kit. It has 10 threads and the swivel nut engages 15 threads on the bolt. I'll update in a couple of weeks when I change coils.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Sad packaging
