about 60-65 miles from our capital city, but there are no hills in the south of La, so there is no problem with it. We had to mount it from the outside, we couldn't pick up some kind of metal plate at the bottom of our canopy in the attic, so we installed it on the front about 10 feet up (from the ground). On the first try, the program received 8 channels, tuned the antenna in one direction, and then in the other direction a couple of times to get better reception. After about 30 minutes of tuning in we received an amazing 43 channels from 3 different cities and they were all exceptionally clear. So yeah, you might have to give it a spin or two, but once it's set, it's done. Excellent reception, better than I expected at distance(s) and from 10 feet off the ground. This is a great little antenna with some power. I give 5 stars, nothing difficult to set up even if you need to rotate or something, the results are worth it, now you're saving over $100/month and really seeing true high resolution for FREE!
