I really liked the look of this balaclava and I was hoping for a great result. Unfortunately, when I took it out on a cold and windy day, cold air was able to get in and my ears were quite cold. The hood portion of this item is wide open, and even after I tightened it with the drawstrings, cold air still came in. This balaclava is not tight on the head and therefore lets the cold through. It defeats any purpose. For now I'm sticking with my old balaclava which fits well and does a great job of keeping my ears and face warm on cold days and nights.
