Another broken machine from Lenovo

I've lost all my trust in the Lenovo brand. This car broke down after just 35 days of ownership. I was in class one evening following the professor's lecture and the PP slides when X1 made 6 loud beeps which disrupted the class. The device wasn't even in sleep mode, only the display was switched off via the system settings to save energy. I excused myself and walked him out of the classroom and tried to run him down the hall about four times. Every time I tried a hard reset and held the power button for about 30 seconds to make sure the device was completely powered off. Each time it squeaked errors. When I got home it turned on properly and when I put the display to sleep and woke it up again I got the same error. This is similar to an issue I had with a Lenovo T61P about 8 years ago. I sent this machine in for repair and a year later it broke again. I wanted to give Lenovo the benefit of the doubt as Nvidia reported a defective batch of 570MP graphics cards in the T61P, but that was a bug. After two unsuccessful devices from Lenovo, I can confidently say that I fully understand their products. I'll mention the machine's good and bad when it actually worked for most of the month. What I liked: Assembly <-- It was very light but felt very sturdy and well built from the outside. I haven't had any paint peeling issues and the carbon fiber weave design is quite nice. Screen Quality <β€” Excellent, the screen is brighter and brighter than my MacBook Pro 2018 screen. The resolution is also higher, but with a 14-inch screen, the difference in clarity is imperceptible. Speakers <-- Not bad, but not much bass. It's better than most other Thinkpad models, but not nearly as good as the MBP. Keyboard <- Much better than my MBP, good key travel and feedback. The difference between the two machines is very clear. I haven't had any issues with the layout, which some people have discussed, although I'm not sure why. Thinkshutter <-- This is a nice built-in feature that I wish more laptops had. You can buy small covers from Revain that stick to the screen or bezel and work in exactly the same way. What I DID NOT like: Speed <-- It wasn't as fast as I would have liked when compiling code in IntelliJ. Also, 4K video playback was choppy in full screen. I know the CPU voltage isn't enough to save battery, but that's totally unacceptable when Lenovo is offering this machine with a 4K screen. surface after little use. It definitely wasn't my skin. Other users on Reddit reported the same issue, while some stated that the surface was smooth glass and had no issues. On the X1C I had, the surface was pretty rough. The trackpoint is recessed too deep into the keyboard, the T430 does my job much better, and the latest generation X1 didn't seem to have this problem. Lenovo is too focused on making the machine thinner. Companies, including Apple, must stop this trend if they compromise critical functionality. Battery <-- The battery lasts a maximum of 3-4 hours with 75-100% screen brightness. You'd expect poor battery life with a screen of this resolution, but it's still a downside. Quality <β€” The system emits 6 loud beeps, which I believe indicates a "computer display error" according to another user on the Lenovo forums who had a similar issue. They had to order a new motherboard, so I suspect something to do with the integrated graphics. Also, I immediately noticed two dead pixels on the screen and contacted the retailer to let them know about the problem. I chose to leave it because these machines could have other problems and there weren't any other defects. Overall I give this car two stars. The construction of the machine is solid, the keyboard and screen are good, but what's the point if it breaks down when I need it most? You can try your luck with this machine as many other people are reporting that Thinkpads are "workhorses" and "reliable". I have no doubts about their positive experiences. However, my experience determines how my money is spent, and Lenovo will no longer receive any money from me. Thank you Revain for refunding the balance.
