I bought this in June 2018 to use in my car stereo and it has worked great for about a year. Excellent sound quality with minimal noise and distortion. Then a few months ago, my car stereo started spitting out the adapter randomly, most likely due to a tight winding mechanism. No problem, I just plug it back in and keep listening. Then a few days ago the cable next to the jack became extremely position sensitive and the sound from one speaker or the other dropped out randomly depending on how the cable was hanging from my music device/phone. At this point I can barely get the sound out no matter what position the wire is in.
