It's quite heavy for a portable umbrella and I wish it didn't take that much force to shorten the length of the handle after folding (and it doesn't reopen until you click the bar to make it smaller) but it's quite large and fairly sturdy and gets the job done. I keep it in my car. We usually get winds up to 20 mph or so. (I don't know how 50 mph is, but would you really go outside in that wind?)
