Took 2 months. No obvious odor until the end of its life cycle. *** TIP *** I really liked them, but I read somewhere that you should use pine pellets instead. I was skeptical but the boy was surprised. Using pine pellets saves me nearly $42 a month over my previous system. I used a traditional lightweight tray which is about $16 per box and I used 2 1/2 boxes a month. I have 3 cats. Now one bag of pine pellets lasts 2 months, and the cost of one bag is less than $10. I clean the sheets twice a day, morning and night, and tidy up in one go. Wet used pine pellets fall between the grooves and get caught. I use a third party absorbent pad that I can get for a penny on the pad. It's a great system. It just needs a little tweaking if you're trying to manage costs. If not then it's still awesome. I recommend it.
